Bleil Laboratories, Inc.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bleil Laboratories, Inc.?
Based in South Dakota, Bleil Laboratories, Inc. will be an analytical and general chemistry lab serving the needs of individuals, businesses, local, state and the federal government. Our services will be utilized by anybody who wants to ensure their surroundings are free from potentially harmful contaminants.
What will Bleil Laboratories, Inc. be able to test?
We will be able to test water, soil, air, sludge, oil and other samples for pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, nutrients (phosphates, nitrates, etc.). Our services should be particularly useful for local emergency services, such as the fire department and law enforcement, to determine the identity of unknown and potentially hazardous materials, accelerants in suspected arson fires, and more.
Will Bleil Laboratories, Inc. just forward the samples to the state labs for analysis?
No, Bleil Laboratories, Inc. is a full service lab and we do our own testing in-house. This is an important point, especially for those who want test from another lab, say a state lab, to be verified.
What are the business affiliations?
We have no affiliation with any other private company; water, pesticide, seed or any other company. This is your proof that we have nothing to gain by skewing your results. If your tests come up too high, or too low we have no products to sell you, and no agreements or contracts of any kind to recommend one company or service over another. The only affiliation we do have is with Dakota State University, where we are proud to support their educational mission.
Will Bleil Laboratories, Inc. be producing anything?
Currently we have no plans for production, and certainly nothing in great quantities. However, we are a full-service lab, so we can produce products, including gels and polymers, for special projects.
How much will it cost?
The current plans are to provide a tiered cost program depending on the needs of our clients. For individuals who just want to ensure their own safety, we will be able to offer budget analyses that should be affordable by any individual. For more serious analyses (such as industrial, or for prosecution, for example), the fees will be more. We WILL match any competitors analysis costs for services we provide; please contact us for further information.
What is the current status of the company?
Bleil Laboratories, Inc. was formed in the state of South Dakota on December 19, 2005, and we are in full swing.
When did it open its doors for business?
Officially, our ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday, August 14, 2006.
What hazards would such a company pose to the community?
Surprisingly few. The chemicals we will utilize are no more dangerous than you might find in a body shop, nail salon or professional cleaning service. What's more, even though we will have dangerous chemicals on hand (properly secured from unauthorized access), the chemists hired to work with them are all trained to deal with these hazards.
In a strange kind of way, it may be safer for a community to have a lab such as this one. When other companies or individuals have questions about chemical safety, they will know where they can get their questions answered. If an unknown substance is discovered in town, we will have the means to rapidly determine what it is and how to safely handle it. If a chemical emergency arises, the emergency services of the town will have access to the expertise and abilities of the lab in their own community.
For more information on our plans to protect our neighbors, our clients and our employees, please feel free to take a look at our Chemical Hygiene Plan.
Just how much waste will you process?
None. Bleil Laboratories, Inc. is not a waste processing center, and we will not gather waste. Instead, we will work with waste processing companies outside of our community, so they know what chemicals are present and how to dispose of them. What's more, by analyzing waste gathered here in our community, we will be able to save our customers money by certifying what the waste contains. If the waste disposal companies know what they are handling, it is far less costly for the client.
