FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bleil Laboratories, Inc. Introduces Clathrate Products

Clever Compounds Provide Conditional Release

April 21, 2007 -- We are all familiar with "time release" products, but what about "condition release"?  I don't wany my antacid to release in twenty minutes, I want it to release when there is too much acid in my stomach.  Thanks to a type of compound called "Clathrates", this and much more is possible.

To understand a Clathrate, imagine a compound trapped in a cage.  The compound that is trapped is called the "Guest"; it can be anything, from a pharmaceutical compound to a fertilizer.  The cage is the "host", and it is a compound in its crystal state.  These crystals all have cavities in them, caused by the arrangement of the atoms.  The host protects the guest by isolating it from other substances that could cause it to break down, like oxygen in the air, until it is released when the guest dissolves or melts.

These compounds have been researched for years (at least since the 1960's), but they have never been commercially produced.  Thanks to research by Fawn Killion at Dakota State University, Bleil Laboratories, Inc. now has access to a model that will predict the conditions that must be achieved to produce these compounds commercially.  By the time the article is published, BLI will have the time necessary to produce, and patent, the processes to make these compounds available.
